La Colombe

One of South Africa's most internationally recognised fine dining restaurants, La Colombe serves a French-meets-Asian tasting menu from its setting on the Silvermist Wine Estate at Constantia Nek.

Location and setting

La Colombe relocated some years ago from its original home on the Constantia Uitsig estate to the Silvermist Wine Estate at Constantia Nek, at the top of the Constantia valley — a mountainside setting with views over the Constantia winelands toward False Bay and Hout Bay.

The food

The kitchen is known for an 8–12 course tasting menu built around a fusion of French technique and Asian flavours, presented with a strong visual, theatrical style — the restaurant's own tagline describes the food as “theatre.” It has picked up sustained international recognition over the years, including being named among Africa's best restaurants by major global rankings.

Booking and expectations

This is a genuine special-occasion restaurant — expect a multi-hour tasting menu experience, smart-casual to elegant dress expectations, and pricing to match the occasion. Bookings are competitive; reserve well in advance, especially for weekend dinners.

Note: Hours, menu and pricing change over time — confirm current details directly with the restaurant before visiting.
