Bloubergstrand Guide

North of the city across Table Bay, Bloubergstrand delivers the single most photographed view of Table Mountain — the classic postcard shot, with the entire mountain visible end to end.

The view

Nearly every classic wide shot of Table Mountain you've seen was taken from Bloubergstrand, looking back across Table Bay with the entire mountain range visible in one frame. It's worth the drive out purely for photos, ideally in calm, clear morning light.

Kitesurfing

The same wind that can disrupt beach plans elsewhere in the city makes Bloubergstrand one of the best kitesurfing and windsurfing spots in the region, with schools and rentals operating along the beach.

Practical notes

It's a working beach town rather than a resort strip — fewer restaurants and facilities than Camps Bay, and the wind means it's a better sunset-photo-and-walk destination than a lounging beach for most of the year. Combine it with a visit to the nearby West Coast towns if you have extra time, or treat it as a half-day trip from the City Bowl.

Local tip: Early morning, before the wind picks up, is the calmest and clearest time for photos — by afternoon in summer, the same wind that draws kitesurfers can make standing on the beach uncomfortable.
